waiting for your call -

pigeons coo on a cable

how eloquent!

while you and I

can’t find the time or words

Wonderful poem golden. Look how nice sounds on the end:

while you and I

can’t find the time or words

ah that paradox in the life

Thank you for sharing

Hi Golden,

It appears that the narrrator and the one to whom this is directed are physically apart. This is evident from the first line:

waiting for your call -

I like how you then go on to show that even lesser creatures, the cooing pigeons, are more human (for lack of a better word): they interact in an attentive social way.

It does seem that some people or even couples are indeed too busy with other things and simply don't make time for one another. However, I am sure that there are others who are just stubborn and refuse to speak to one another because of some fight. Either way, life is definitely too short to avoid (or not speak to) a loved one.

"paradox"

Hi Aleksandra,

Yes, indeed a "paradox" and how we waste time and life!

Thank you for the read. I'm grateful that you enjoyed this.

Your perceptive reading.

Hi Tony,

How well you read this!

I enjoyed your reflections here very much:

Hi gl, Aleks and Tony have already expressed well some of the thoughts that came to me when reading this. I will add that although the human connection may be central to the message of the poem, it is the unique sound image, of "pigeons coo on a cable" that is savored and will be remembered by the reader.

GL, I like the poignant melancholy of your poem. Pigeons cooing are especially an apt portrait of this. Thanks

"sound image"

Hi Tink,

I'm very pleased that the "sound image" in the line you quoted, works for you. It does seem quite straightforward, while we fret and fume!

Thank you very much,
