Devil's Game

I nudged
the sleeping cat
who slid

from the foot
stool
landing upside
down

but righted
herself instantly
as if she'd
meant
to land that way.

I'm sorry,
but the devil
made me
do it.

Missed this when you first posted it, Tinker. Very WCW!

Not sure what this has to do with Tony's World Championship Wrestling, unless it perhaps involves the conscience! I reallllly like this! (Query: do you really need the comma?) Missed it the first time, too, even though badger noted the naughtiness. I'm glad Tony and Victor commented recently, to bring it to the fore. It's a keeper, Tink.

Wrestling, Dave??? Maybe with trying to find better ways to express myself, lol. I was referring to William Carlos Williams' "Poem":

As the cat

climbed over

the top of

the jamcloset

first the right

forefoot

carefully

then the hind

stepped down

into the pit of

the empty

flowerpot.

LOL, The comments are funnier than the poem. Thanks for chiming in Badge, David, Tony, Victor and David.

This poem is written patterned after the genius of William Carlos Williams as Tony pointed out. WCW as he is often called is a poet who I didn't like at first and couldn't understand why he was called a great poet. I thought anyone could write that stuff but found it is much harder to write in his style and purpose than it looks. Studying his work I have come to understand and appreciate his efficiency and focus. I am a big WCW fan. If you don't know him, you need to read some of his works especially his most famous the red wheelbarrow and This is just to Say.
