Gatekeeper, How cool is that? I'm going to look for a photo.

haiku journal jvg #71

at the blur of dawn
I rise with a purple haze
behind my eyelids

Hey, thanks for the pic. That's it! Distinctive crown pattern.

Small feathers scattered

house sparrows gather them up

Death will line the nest

年の思い出 --

toshi no omo-i-de --

closing my eyes

memories of other years --

winter rain falling

Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim

haiku journal jvg #75 Oops at first I approached this as the haiku train and took my cue from Brendan. Fortunate that the winter rains are what everyone here is talking about too. Yesterday I took a picture from my front door of the winter rain in my yard. My garden has been so in need of rain.

Winter rain falls
on drought parched memories
rocky path to Spring

Randver Askmadr

These are some I had written in the winter of 2013 when a friend of mine, Godai, wrote about seeing a red fox playing in the snow while feeding the birds.

Feeding winter birds

Red fox playing in the snow

Godai writes Haiku

He then challenged me to do more So.

Frozen water falls

Icicles hang in the trees

Cold temperatures

Then he showed a picture of a snowy owl in flight and said write about that.

Sunrise in winter

Snowy owl hunts over fields

Poor little field mouse
