Last Look

As the black sedan

rolled down the steep

slope of graveled

road, the shrinking

vision of you staring

back at me through

the rear glass

remained.

I relish memories of

our embraces and the

quick sameness of

shared hungers, but

only your leaving

engraved an image

on my soul.

I have a sneaking suspicion that "black sedan" implies a lot more than it may seem. If I am wrong, it still adds an atmosphere to the poem -- which is very heartfelt.

Yes! And down the steep

slope of graveled

road (of life).

Writing about a lost love is much more constructive than my tedious and unproductive habit of moping. Thanks for the inspiration.
