Poetry Magnum Opus

Recommended Posts

The chapel's weathervane points south.
That canopy of autumn rust
beguiles the crowd. On Cannop Ponds
 a cacophony of mallards,
moorhen and coots, a herring gull;
along the track the flocks of bikes
and hikers, kids and dog walkers;
an oak, stout like grandma's clock,
dazzles, unthreads the darkest tales.
Her weathered cloth warms his morning
as if there were no dreams of wolves.

Phil, it seems you've submitted two poems in forms I've contemplated trying just recently. In "Ignored" we have the pastoral, and here we have an idyll.

Looking forward to my next ride on the bike path (tomorrow, hopefully, if there's no rain). Very nicely composed.
