candle dust

eclipse

Recommended Posts

Blind Ezra sat in his garden as the moonglight
ravished his cat Rumi's fur. Memorys were like
candle dust in a matchbox as Ezra reminisced,
icy glints were like eyes that helped view
visions of the past. Rumi blended with the moonlight
leaving enquiring green eyes reflected at the moon.

Hi Barry,  This was feel good poem.  I like its length, it says what it wants to say efficiently and filled with unique imagery.   I'm still trying wrap my mind around candle dust.  It is a beautiful pairing of words.  I enjoyed reading this.

The poem has lovely qualities despite my being annoyed that Ezra is blind. I demand that he's not! And I agree with Tinker's remark about the "candle dust" expression. It's unique. Still, my favorite take has to be "Rumi blended with the moonlight."
