the morning

crisp and clear

the sunlight

golden and vivid

pouring through branches

and translucent leaves

breathing in freshness

tinged with coldness

it's like breathing in piano sonatas

being played at dawn by Beethoven

above

the sky is resplendent

hiding the symphony of the universe

powder blue to the right

dazzling white to the left

the sun majestic and everywhere

to me

i am here alone

holding life

dancing to its rhythm

the tree's shadow is upon my skin

and the sun

and the breeze

and the morning

we are all one

To receive love, you have to give it...

Hello Douglas, my dear Doug. I missed you and your poetry around. But why you needed such of long time to shop up here :).

But now I'm happy to see you and read your poetry again. I love this poem my friend. It's full with beautiful imageries, and wonderful expression. The lyric here works wonderful. It have some lonely and sad sound, but that's fine in poem like this. I love most of the expressions, they are so emotional and very metaphorical, as this one:

it's like breathing in piano sonatas

being played at dawn by Beethoven

Much enjoyed in this poem Doug. I hope you will share more of your work.

Really I am glad to see you here, thank you for join and sharing.

I think this is the most powerful poem out of the ones you have posted so far, but I think it would be even more powerful if you ended it with the penultimate line. The title is fantastic. It helps ground the poem in reality.

It's a wonderful poem, Douglas -- it "takes me there," and once I'm there, I want to stay. The last line breaks the spell for me ...

Hello Douglas,

What a contrast this poem is to Pride! Here you use beautiful colors and light to express a sense of being alive and attuned to the beauty of the world around you:

i am here alone

holding life

dancing to its rhythm

the tree's shadow is upon my skin

and the sun

and the breeze

and the morning

Wonderfully sensuous and celebratory!
