revision2

My labrador dreams.
A blackbird sings,
consumed by summer.
Grasses samba across borders.
Exuberance breathes -
flowers a Fauve palette,
Matisse alive and fearless.
In solitude that black spotted leaf
nudges tomorrow.

My labrador sleeps.
A blackbird sings
consumed by summer.
The flower border overflows.
Exuberance dances here -
a Fauve palette,
Matisse alive and fearless.
In solitude that brown leaf
nudges tomorrow.

original

Heat and tears.
There's exuberance here.
Its colour is fearless.
In solitude that brown leaf
nudges tomorrow.

Badge, Very tanka like.    I really like it all but especially,  " in solitude that brown leaf nudges tomorrow."    I never thought of it like that but so true.

Thanks Tink. I find syllabics a useful frame to break away from stress patterns. They provide a net when fishing for words. Once that challenge has been achieved, though in this case I didn't bother much, then I like to break the net and let the words swim!

Haha,  What a great line, "break the net and let the words swim".

I had to look up Fauvism and Henri Matisse to see and fully appreciate the lovely picture you've painted here. Is the stanza below the line an earlier version of the poem?
