Hush, He's Sleeping

palpable whisper
replete with muted symbols
heavenly music
heralds new babe on straw bed
our promised Savior is born

I've only seen "palpable" used once in a poem, in Archibald MacLeish's "Ars Poetica." Interestingly he also uses "mute" (along with "palpable") in that poems first line. Perhaps the prompt that led to this poem has inspired a brand new ars poetica. 😊

Thanks for sharing this one, Judi, and for remembering the reason for the season. The title and poem are perfectly matched.
