It was Cameron's birthday.....

the big number 8.......

he said he was 9 to me the day before.....

for some reason, as I traveled the highway to Winchester

on Friday sunny afternoon......

I went to Burlington's Barnes and Noble....not so noble....

4 books and 2 book markers....$80

sleeping over parents house......needed reading material....

decided to stop by the packy.......$30

buy some toys at Toys r Us....$60

let's see....frisbee, slinky, yo yo, water rocket thing, lincoln logs

and other cheap things before smiling moms with young kids all about....

arrived tipsy

Cameron just wanted to play with me.......outside.....

him riding his green bike....me running in bare feet......

smoked a Winston cigerette infront of him

Anyways, the next day....

Cameron wanting us over morning phone call......

was up til 5am reading and drinking

10:30 am

coffee and mom's lip smacking breakfast

tired though.....beers.....

a hurried shower

and my brother at the Boston Bruins Saturday afternoon hockey game......

we traveled over to Cameron's place.....(Lindsey and Dan's place)

mom in the van's front driver's seat.......

good ole dad 83 with a cane.......once a young purple heart recipient.......

now a fragile slow confused easily person.....

love him so much now

6 of us watched the hockey game on their great tv.......

beer and cheese and crackers

with less than one minute left....the Bruins tied the game.....

we all clapped and cheered

in overtime....the Bruins won....Flyers lost....

we clapped louder and cheered

My brother, a cop, and his little son Ryan went......

the rest of his faimly picked them up in Boston

showed up at the gathering 45 minutes later

all excited.......

and it was an exciting hockey game......

we all had watched it

Kurt, my bro, Evangalina, his cute wife,

their kids....Ryan 5, Christina 4,

and my God parent kid....Alanna...2

then we started to have some fun......

kids enjoy me so much......

we played baseball outside....ran about....

ran about inside too !

tiny dog, cuddles, barking away with a wagging tail

Cameron didn't care about his birthday presents......

he just wanted to be ' wild as an indian'...............

they all had fun

food was then served....good times......photos......

candles lit, happy birthday was loudly sung

smiles and laughter and beer, beer, beer

mom drives me and dad home.....

and it's time to crash again........

in the mood to binge this Saint Paddy's weekend

Hi pawn shop,

A great celebratory tone throughout this poem and how warmly you describe your parents, brothers and their families! I enjoyed this narrative of family celebration.
