Invented Forms

Monotetra is an invented stanzaic form found at several sites on the internet including Random Writerly Thoughts . It was created by Michael Walker. As you may have guessed from the name the form is monorhymed and written in tetrameter.

The Monotetra is:

  • stanzaic, written in any number of quatrains.
  • metric, iambic tetrameter.
  • rhymed, each stanza is mono rhymed aaaa bbbb cccc etc.

Mono y Mono by Judi Van Gorder

    I weary writing mono-rhyme

    and tetrameter trips in time.

I wish to write of grit and grime,

a poem of substance, words sublime.
