The Morning Sun

The Morning Sun

She wakes with the sun,
her blanky tucked under her arm
the toddler runs
into her Mommy's embrace.
The day's disovery begins with hugs.

She wakes with the sun
and Mom's prompts, reluctantly.
Dreams interrupted,
time to get ready for school.
She doesn't need sleep to dream.

She wakes with the sun
with her groom warm by her side,
a rich future smiles.
In love with love she makes plans
to fill each day with adventure.

She wakes with the sun
too much to do to lie in bed,
kids, hubby, job, meals, laundry
and pick up dry cleaning.
Can she sneak time for herself?

She wakes with the sun,
she writes best in the morning.
Days full, but quiet.
When noisy grandchildren visit
the sun shines brightest.

She wakes with the sun
and moves with slow grace,
joints ache in rising.
She stretches age from her bones
to embrace the gift of one more day.

I found this to be a 'comfortable' piece. A pretty good life, all in all, Grandma. Seriously enjoyed.

Hi, Tink. Timeless poem. Strange maybe, but I saw each stanza as a different person, even though I know it's a matter of maturing and new outlooks. I think we are all different people every day. Maybe a self-defense so I can live with myself. ;) I can identify with "When noisy grandchildren visit

the sun shines brightest."
