The Atmosphere

The Atmosphere

The melancholy atmosphere of this early evening
With the wind sounding like the crashing sea outside
Blowing away my thoughts and memories

The pain curling around my heart at sunset
The battle within me to save myself

And the dusk is laying itself down
All powdery and purple and sombre
These early nocturnal hues colouring my spirit
As Solitude bends down toward me
Her long black hair closing my face off from the light

I take her embraces
Become one with her haunting presence and the turbulent wind

I think I remember happiness
I think I remember freedom
I think I remember love
As she takes me and ends the day

Another closed chapter of my life
Thoughts and feelings and moments
Gone forever

The atmosphere of this early evening
All chalked and grey and restless
Through my eyes
Through my tears
Through my soul
Through my solitude

To receive love, you have to give it...

An unusual personification of solitude but it works for me.... "I take her embraces/ Become one with her haunting presence and the turbulent wind. Striking imagery. G.

"I think I remember....."

THAT is poetry that cuts! This piece is certainly evocative. Good job.
