You did not speak of your tribe,
and in that darkness without stars
I did not trouble you with questions.

You did not venture into the light,
and in that closet of someone else
I did not trouble you with debate.

You did not seek to be safe,
and with your back against my chest
I did not trouble you with compliance.

You did not tell me what you sought,
and now that your body is a wraith
I want to trouble you with myself.

An absolutely beautiful reflection on impermanence and intimacy and the lack thereof. Ironically named, since that is the game I have been playing semi fanatically for the last few months, mentioned in this interview with me: http://prn.fm/expanding-mind-long-conversation-01-08-15/ (Full disclosure: Self-promotion as well as a poem read of mine;-)

Loved it!

I have to agree with Juris ... but it takes several readings! Well done.

Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim

I took this as a complex relationship poem that caused me to recall words a long dead friend, (who believed all lives are pre-destined) said to me many years ago. That: "There are some things we just aren't meant to have." Simple philosophical words that still evoke sadness and remain forever in my mind. Well done!

Thank you, too, for reading and commenting. If I win the lotto (which I never play!) expect a visit. :P

I enjoyed the theme. Geoff has summed it up better than I can. When taken in the context of his remarks the sentiments touched upon in this poem rise almost to the level of unbearable.
