Summer Heat

I bear sunlight like a weight,

forcing sweat from forehead,

brows and armpits,

drenching the shirt

just as I see your hair

unfurl like a flag in the wind,

your face unflinching

in the heat,

and you

heading my way,

boosting up the heat

to a melting point

nearly vaporizing me

off the concrete.

Aleksandra

just as I see your hair

unfurl like a flag in the wind,

your face unflinching

in the heat,

Wonderful verse Joel.

The poem is so nice, I like it a lot. The last lines, the last part gives another dimension of the poem. Very good metaphor Joel . Very clever expressed.

Thank you, Aleks and summaya. I'm glad that you enjoyed this one. It's summer this side of the planet.

I like your similies in this one, Joel --

I bear sunlight like a weight...

and

just as I see your hair

unfurl like a flag in the wind ....

Hi JoelJosol,

In a myriad of images you show the presence of summer. I like how you've personified the season with a strong element of confidence and impact.
