tonyv
Here are some of my old poems from the first PMO from way back when. I'm not looking to revise these, and I certainly don't expect comments on them; I'm just sharing. I've been a bit busy, a bit distracted, but I hope to have some new material soon.--------Florida-------------------J'ai une âme solitaire.------------------------------Brad Delp Lizards and sepia sunsets. I swim to the bottom, push off. The air is charged; I am the ground, drawing the calmness of dead: dust will not love. Day breaks over the Balkans. In starlight, I take in the Gulf. _________________________--------Supplication A cooing sounds from the tallest pines. I tremble when I sense its sonic caress. Why does it tell me you love me when I can't be with you? Why do I listen when I can't bear to hear the delicate call? Fly, little birdie! Fly away! Don't you want to do the right thing? Leave me the frost on voiceless treetops, the sunrise, and desolate night. _________________________--------Hello Sunshine Oh, my Sunshine! Silver clouds are not enough for you! Come closer! Don't forget that I can raise whatever you can bet; and if I choose the midnight over you, it's just because you will not pray with me. _________________________--------Rx The summer doesn't miss the spring it is what it is: it's its own Perhaps it's okay to hide for awhile, invisible like winter in the middle of July Maybe goodbye would be okay maybe today _________________________--------Wait When I see your name, I say it to myself and shiver, shudder, all of it! I'm lonely: sinking feeling, blinking cursor -- wait all day in love, wait all night for you. _________________________--------Sunshower Shards of the moon. Desert cries on a frigid night. So cold, smooth. Some summer of long days and even longer nights. Some summer of you. My heart hurts like the ground where the pyramids are parked. So difficult to apprehend like a sunshower. You had everything I had to have: rhythm, light, indifferent moon, icy crystals in your sunset eyes. _________________________--------Summer Is Gone Darkness, mixing it up with a shock of clouds -- don't know if it's moonlight or the last light of day, but cool is on the edge of cold now. Dining alfresco at the neighborhood bistro isn't the same: my Summer is gone; she's in a distant hemisphere. I count the stars over Canada and ache for her return. _________________________On a quiet night when you can't sleep when pale moonlight filters through the murk over India look up from your oasis, wherever that may be, and listen-- there's a hum within the cosmos --I will hear it, too You'll recall those perfect nights when we stayed late and talked about the many things that were on our minds: the summer solstice, pomegranates social justice; I saw diamonds in your eyes and I'd send children into mines if it would bring you back to me _________________________ Quote Here is a link to an index of my works on this site: tonyv's Member Archive topic
David W. Parsley
Neither sparse nor florid, full of the quickening of life. The work of a true poet and craftsman. I will come back here often, Tony. (The last one, with its awful Need, dropped a dashing stone into a crater of my person. You'll never know.) Thank you. I think. (One of my highest compliments.) - Dave
badger11
hi Tony Perhaps you could sticky this for this month's showcase on Member poetry so members can dip in. The insane, ruthlessness of the final two line says it all about rationality, morality, when meaning is so intense: and I'd send children into mines if it would bring you back to me badge

tonyv
Perhaps you could sticky this for this month's showcase on Member poetry so members can dip in. Oh, I don't know, Badge ... I'm a bit shy to do that. The insane, ruthlessness of the final two line says it all about rationality, morality, when meaning is so intense: and I'd send children into mines if it would bring you back to me Yes ... I always appreciate your thoughtful input and encouragement. Thank you. Benjamin
Your poems resonate with lines of great quality i.e: "Why do I listen when I can't bear to hear the delicate call?" Tactful and clever use of plain language. B.

Tony What a great expression, Tony: "pick up my spirits". I think any re-reading of our own poems should bring our spirits back. I admire your poems, old ones or new ones. But I would like to read some new from you. :) Aleksandra Quote The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth - Jean Cocteau History of Macedonia
