He said that the eyes I drew

Were expressive

- I liked that

 

He said that the way my hair hung

Across my forehead reminded him

Of Rupert Everett

- I liked that too

 

He said that he was glad that

I’d phoned him

- I also liked that

 

But what I like

And what I really desire

Are not necessarily the same things

To receive love, you have to give it...

This poem reflects mixed emotions. The mind is a complex, vital part of human anatomy. It is capable of interpreting different messages at the same time. The five sensory organs may well be sending complimentary thoughts, but the mind is independantly capable of desiring something totally different to appease it.
