To The Shrine

Cassiel led me to the shrine,
Adorned with a headdress of gold,
Henna tattoos decorating his face.
He took me into holiness;
His bronzed hips swaying between lotus flowers
As he led me past the thrones of Shiva and Krishna and Jesus and Buddha.

Joyously, we approached Gaia and Allah and Venus and Zeus,
And Aphrodite descended, embracing us tenderly.
I was taken to the alter of bleeding sacrifices
Where flowers, spices and the supplications of the innocents
Were placed into the Chalice of Salvation
To protect the raging, longing spirits of humanity.

And I prayed to all of the Gods and Goddesses,
Begging them to overlook the blind transgressions of religiosity
And all of the vanity, cruelty and senselessness
Of this Dark Age;
And as the incantation rose up with the smoke of incense
Ra shone down on us all with patience and love.

The fires of the temple roared
And Michael and Gabriel and Uriel and Raphael
Alighted to comfort us
While Pan and Eros danced together in the sacred space
Evoking goodness and peace for all upon Earth.

A reverent veil of silence then descended
And the Guardians of Souls
Chastised themselves with briars, genuflecting
As they desired mankind to understand
The true humility, compassion
And selflessness behind their solitary martyrdoms.

The throats of bulls and birds were sliced
And the holy congregation danced until their eyes rolled back;
And the Water Nymphs and Sirens swam into
The Marble Port beside the Shrine,
Bringing with them salty blessings from the oceans,
Whispering watery songs from the seas and streams
To help bring relief to those with parched hearts.

The secret Gods of the Amazon were also there
And the fiery Spirits of the Volcanoes and Islands;
Gold and silver and flame and mud,
The many faces of our Beloved God.

Then Mary appeared in resplendence
In the sapphire sky above us,
Framed by glittering stars and crystals
While the songs of the blameless
Resounded across the Universe.

Below us, on Earth,
Flowers bloomed,
Babies were born
And bombs exploded,
Leaving humanity exhausted, twisted and forlorn.
Whiteness and humility was laid down upon the floors
And a mantra was sung,
“Learn to love and turn away from your senseless wars!”

Then came the spirits of the artists and philosophers and poets,
The intellectuals and statesmen of times past;
And the wisdom, creativity and true beauty in man
Was celebrated amidst the vaulted architecture and grandeur;
And a loud scream was heard -
The collective voice of all who ever were and shall be,
Rising up to the pinnacle of Heaven,
The Eternal Place where all will eventually find peace
In the dimension of light and enlightenment.

And the souls of the misguided, the wicked and evil destroyers
Writhed in torment and bondage,
Their spirits tortured by their choices and the darkness of their
Cruel transgressions against others;
And Mother Nature recoiled,
Forced to reject her blind and malevolent children,
Those whose greed and desire have torn and destroyed
The purity of Earth.

The Gods and Goddesses then fell silent
And loud rushing winds swept in from every direction.
Trumpets resounded above us
And we watched as all was swept up and condensed
Into one beautiful diamond of Singular Light.

A gentle, melodious voice,
More beautiful than anything we had ever heard,
Then emanated from the jewel imploring:

“Oh sanctimonious souls, at war with one another,
Desist and open your spirits once again to the Infinite Mystery.
Without tolerance, wisdom and understanding the Truth cannot be revealed,

So choose love and come to rest in peace once more.

Flow back into synchronicity with nature and each other;

Go back to the Shrine and recall the secrets you have forgotten.

Seek beauty with compassion, humility and reverence,
And you will remember who you truly are.”

To receive love, you have to give it...

"Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends.

There is a secret song at the center of the world, Joey, and its sound is like razors through flesh."

"I don't believe you."

"Oh come, you can hear its faint echo right now. I'm here to turn up the volume.

To press the stinking face of humanity into the dark blood of its own secret heart."

"There's a starving beast inside my chest
playing with me until he's bored
Then, slowly burying his tusks in my flesh
crawling his way out he rips open old wounds

When I reach for the knife placed on the bedside table
its blade reflects my determined face
to plant it in my chest
and carve a hole so deep it snaps my veins

Hollow me out, I want to feel empty"

"Sky turns to a deeper grey

the sun fades by the moon

hell's come from the distant hills

tortures dreams of the doomed

and they pray, yet they prey

and they pray, still they prey"
