Confession (strong subject warning & sexual references)

Suffered little children who unknowing came to me,

Met this serpent in a black cassock in a presbytery;

I was anointed and appointed to serve a Holy See,

Clad in my vestment camouflage I preyed on thee.

Rome said there must never be females or sex for me,

God forbade I not forget my solemn vow of celibacy.

So did I not lustily attend my flock and fellow man,

Evangelising with a cock not Christ’s cross in hand?

Use, abuse you then I can self-confess my sordid sins,

The Church did not defrock us so respectability wins.

When we pederasts got caught, debriefed, relocated,

Dirty priests swept under red carpets and exonerated.

Oh carefree days before cleric gays' sodomy was news

Now I’m in jail, Holy Church is in court, we pay our dues.

(by an outraged lapsed ex-Catholic ex-altar boy)

A strong, rightfully bitter piece. The poem effectively speaks for the victim, ironically, from the mouth of the perpetrator. Although I don't sense any personal remorse, the abomination is magnified by the lens of his damning testimony against his (complicit) corporate enabler. Very well done, Frank. Let me know if you want this moved to Member Poetry.

What a can of worms the church tried to hide.....

like the proverbial elephant in a room type thing....

A great shame as a lapsed Catholic this was sharply etched example of hypocrisy. Thanks for commenting. Frank

Hi Frank,

Profoundly soul-destroying, the betrayal and violation perpetrated and the Church's immoral safeguarding of this. The vestments and the establishment, a refuge for the perverse. Good use of biblical and other religous references to drive home your strong condemantion.
