May her soul rest in peace. she died from complications of leukemia.

in the early morning rain

i feel the teardrops hit my face

as though the sky was crying on me

i will see you tomorrow

at the golden gate of life

up in the sky and beyond

there will be singing, dancin, and rejoicing

'the day i return home

just like you have mary

i loved your voice

that inspired folklore legends

keep on bringing smiles my own way

and together we will see the sun rise again

so tomorrow we will meet

at the stairway to heaven

and on that day there will be much rejoicing

so i pray your soul be comforted

from the cancer that took your life

godbless you mary

It does feel like the passing of an era ... it was PPM, after all, who made that brilliant recording of "Blowin' in the Wind" that was a first major step in bringing Bob Dylan, who wrote the song, into prominence. They were the bright and shiny and acceptable side of the folk movement (which NOBODY was listening to in the 1950s and early 60s ... except, maybe, Hang Down Your Head, Tom ... Dooley) and their upbeat songs helped popularise other then completely-unknown folk musicians. This, I think, was their real legacy. On the other hand, they did come up with "Puff, the Magic Dragon", one of the most toe-curlingly awful songs in musical history!

A fitting tribute, all the same ....

A lyrical tribute for a much loved singer.

I like these images:

....

Also the detail: "golden gates of life".

Thank you.

Ah Victor what a nice tribute where it feels some calm and love. The same feelings I got while listening the song Puff the Magic Dragon. I never heard before about this lovely singer, and now I enjoy the songs.

Thank you for this nice poem. May her soul rest in peace.
