It’s Been a Long, Long Time

Many years have passed.

Since I last looked in your lovely eyes

and heard your songbird voice.

I don’t know when I will be back again!

But, I do know I miss you so.

Its been a long, long time

since we last embraced

and laughed on the seashore

Picnic baskets and romance on a beach.

Let the waves carry are love away.

If I could be free like a butterfly

and spread my majestic wings.

Oh I would fly away

and soar to the heavens up above

where the clouds do dwell.

I would suck the nectar of a flower bush

and wish for autumn again.

With all the colorful leaves

blowing on the trees

Oh the last dance we shared

was so long, long ago.

It takes me back

to when we were just little kids

and young adults

with passion flowing all around.

Its been a long, long time.

I guess it Is time to say good bye.

So I write you a song

and sing it to you.

When will I leave a rose

on your barren grave.

Never to see your lovely eyes again

and feel your warm embrace.

A cold winter’s night

reminds me of the day we met.

But that was so long, long ago.

Blow me a kiss.

That was yesterday.

We were born to be free.

Yesterday has come and gone

but everything we shared in life

has come and gone like the wind.

The wind

that blows

on a mountain top.

I don’t know if we will ever see each other again

and feel that warm embrace at least one more time.

Its been a long, long time

and I don’t know if I hate you so

or love you like when are eyes first met.

This is good lyrical piece Vic, and yes can be a song.

I like the dark side of the poem, the melancholy. I love how you are sunk in memories and your voice gives the effect of this poem.

Wonderful poetical piece my friend. I love it.

A lyric of love and longing. I especially like the imagery. My favorite:

... everything we shared in life

has come and gone like the wind.

The wind

that blows

on a mountain top.

I also like the way the narrator's mixed feelings are expressed:

I don’t know when I will be back again!

But, I do know I miss you so ...

... I don’t know if I hate you so

or love you like when are eyes first met.

Enjoyed this one a lot, Victor.

Hi victor,

Such highs and such lows - you describe them all in this evocative poem. I love the painful honesty of your closing lines:

...

I don't know if we will ever see each other again

and feel that warm embrace at least one more time.

Its been a long, long time

and I don't know if I hate you so

or love you like when are eyes first met.

Thank you.
