Carried In The Wind

Does anybody know what time it is?

Does anybody really care?

Yesteryear has come and gone!

I used to watch time pass

until it all became a big blur.

Can anybody tell me

what time it really is?

I had a friend name Dave.

He died way before his time.

Shot in the head,

dead way to young.

I realized than

how fragile

life really is.

I hear a song played on the radio,

I look at an old painting.

Can I see creation's hand at work?

This song tells me in harmony

how I used to be.

Does anybody remember me?

Does anybody really care?

Can you tell what time it is?

I scream out loud.

The only witness is the clouds in the sky

and the trees and birds on the ground.

Tears fall from my eyes.

Is it really my heart bleeding?

I let the wind take me

and carry me away

to a much better place

where no more tears fall.

Is it all just a blur?

I woke up from a nightmare

of a dream.

I remembered my old friend Dave

who was in that dream.

I called out his name

and heard him speak to me

as though it was an echo in the wind.

Victor this is emotional poem and touched me. Full of pain, loneliness, sadness, and disapointment. The feeling of anger is also the feeling what I felt in your poem. You wrote this so powerful and very sensitive.

how fragile

life really is.

Yes really it is Vic.

Thank you for sharing.

Can anybody really ever know the time? The date? The year? I enjoyed the poem, Victor.

Hi victor,

A pervading sense of melancholy. Memories of a dear friend who died before his time are triggered in dreams where the friend is as the poet remembers. You describe well how passage of time does not always dull the pain of loss and how nature in all its beauty and solitude can actually accentuate that pain :

I scream out loud.

The only witness is the clouds in the sky

and the trees and birds on the ground.

Tears fall from my eyes.

Is it really my heart bleeding?

Dreams, as Jung said, is where our creative impulses are released and realized and your poem gave me this sense of the creative potential, albeit there's an underlying sadness and anguish in this.

Thank you for sharing this.
