rust

climbing steps to temple
rusty knees complain
while snow capped crown
gracefully bows low in gratitude

Wow Tinker, this is short and powerful. When I saw the title I guessed that it must be some inspiration by Brendan's poem. I read what you wrote there about Japanese and saba or rust of time. That was inspiring for me.

This poem captures with its own spirit and imagery. Thank you for sharing.

I think it captures the spirit of sabi, Tinker. As they say, rust never sleeps. We can only hope to outlast it. There's a wisdom in the "snow capped crown" that bears witness to this fact.
