Look Who's Crying

Look Who's Crying!

Look who's crying.

It is just a child

playing in the rain.

One day passes

and he is ready

and eager

to explore the world.

He tries his best

to survive

and fit in.

After many years

have passed

he knows he is dying

in his soul.

one bloody experience

has shown him the mind

of how god does things.

Though he keeps on trying

looking to all the sky

to encompass everything that is.

the drum of his heart

keeps playing

that same old sad tune.

Just a child playing

in the rain

yet his own tears

after many years

still keep on falling.

The child looks

to the ground

and he wonders

where have all

his salty tears gone.

Vic, this poem is very heartfelt. The slow tone, the sadness that comes with it, all of that makes this poem to sound as it sound. And I like the presence of nostalgia, too.

Very well done.

i must agree with waxwings though - the last stanza is the distilled essence of the poem and could easily stand alone!
