Devil Dog

In the darkness rhythmic low breathing,

In the night-light's glow a chest heaving;

Witching hour gone a clock showed two,

A wakeful owl way off hooted twit t'woo.

Red eyes flickered open alerted to a sound

Panting approaching, it had to be that hound.

Hot breath erupted like magma in my face,

At the whiff of flesh and death I awoke apace.

Slavering of canine drool dripped upon my jowl

Fresh blood of meat I sensed and it smelled foul

The beast was all over me and I began to howl:

”I'll kill you dog one day, just now I need a towel.”

Cheers DC, so pleased it was OK with you, someone suggested some halloween material. It was fun writing.
