Harnessing the Talents of the Young [R]

Recommended Posts

School is a way to keep kids off the streets

and stop them running wild, passing along

accumulated wisdom, the dredgings of ancient canals,

getting them ready for the hard fuckin times ahead.

No wonder kids hate it and turn to crime

and drugs and laughs and ASBO. Fuck it. When

you are young you can't see three weeks ahead.

Which don't make it right.

Being young is the best thing ever.

Lookit here, you want to rob a bank?

Here's how you do it. Hotwire a car?

Well, the easiest way is like this.

Now gelignite is a sensitive explosive

not like petrol in milk bottles, you understand,

it deserves some fuckin respeck, got it?

Now this is the self-loading spring

and all you need to do is _this_ to eject

and change your magazines, so simple,

nothing to it, want to try? Dumb fuck!!

Do that again, you slag, fifty fuckin times!

Now, that's real education.

You need to teach kids things

they really want to learn, stands to reason,

and then you ship them off in their hoodies

and baseball caps to Afghanistan, dropping

them out of airplanes with or without parachutes,

where they can scare the fuck out of the Taliban

instead of us for a change. Have a go at the Pathans.

Delight in violence will meet corresponding delight.

And the survivors, Minister? We have a limited number

of positions reserved for one-legged street-sweepers

in the City of London, Birmingham, Durham, and Burton-on-Trent.

Excellent! Our all-seeing government plans ahead.

Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim

Okay, lots of fornicating taking place in this topic. The government may not care, but some of us here at PMO do. Thus the poem has harnessed a distinctive emblem for its title line: [R]. I'll add it in.

Apologies, Tony. I just don't think about these things. OK, I know I should, I will. You have standards to keep and the least I can do is put up a warning signal before you have to step in and do it for me. Are people really that freaked with so-called bad or inappropriate language? Seems to me it's all around.

Nevertheless, whenever a poem calls for it (I don't throw things in just for the hell of it, it's an integral part of the flow) I will remember to throw up the [R] notice! Again, sorry for the trouble.

No problem, Brendan. As I've said before, we often look the other way in instances in which they're few and far between, but when there are substantial amounts of the "eff" word in a topic, we prefer to see the warning.

Are people really that freaked with so-called bad or inappropriate language? Seems to me it's all around.

I don't know. My own background is in electrical construction, so there's not much that will freak me out, but it's my duty to keep some order here.

Okay, I'm off to address your latest submission.
