and when the whiskey tastes dry,

and when the fickle stars freckle the sky,

will you clasp your hands with the peace you have found

and when she licks her lips, he flicks his tongue,

and when the cat and snake couple as one,

will you clap your hands with joy beneath the ground

and when their love worms within your eyes,

and when all you hear brims with sighs,

will you blood the walls with an infinite sound

I feel like I'm finally getting to meet Harry. The poem gives the reader just enough -- not too little, not too much. Enjoyed it a lot, Badge.

Pleased you enjoyed Tony.

Hope all is well with you, and Aleks. It would be nice to see you both posting poems again.

Hello Badger

I did not fully understand it, love the structure, it's deep, metaphorical, philosophical, but who is "Harry"?

The first stanza stands out, a favourite.

Best wishes

...but who is "Harry"?

I enjoy adopting persona, or using fictional characters, rather than writing 'I' poetry. It allows me to structure a narrative around the poems, to empathise with people and their situations.

pleased you enjoyed

Hi Badge

Enjoyed the allegory especially that central and well placed line "and when the cat and snake couple as one," B.
