Playing

He teased, he touched.

Every time I cried

he bought me

clothes, sweets

even a new Barbie

until that dawn

when the sun bled

like I did

and my childhood

seeped down my leg

soaked their bed.

My mother screamed, she wept,

He swore, he denied

our little games

and his special love

for me.

Very deep, sad, emotional, confusing. The longing here and the pain are so much seen goldenlangur. That confusion on the end, makes this poem stronger, and much more attractive for reading, and involves you to read again and again.

Very well expressed and it is strong written. Gives a picture of screaming voices, remember the prompt line from before some days: Musty boxes of memories...?

Well done my friend

Hearwrenching, Golden.

... soaked
their
bed.

My mother screamed, she wept,

He swore, he denied ...

It's staggering that family members can be complicit and enable such situations ... and that it's not uncommon.

Hello Leafriver,

Lovely to meet you. I'm moved by your sensitive and thoughtful response, worded so eloquently too:

I cannot know the contours of your mind, the valley of your grief, but I can admire the courage that makes you sing this song.

I hope to read your work.

The transition into the last stanza makes the first two revolting. Good write, GL.

I'm grateful that the "revolting" aspect comes through.

Sensationally shocking and deliberately so Golden. Chillingly graphic and the shock climax creeps up on one. Very damn good. Frank

Hello Frank and pawnshop,

Thank you for reading this. I'm grateful that the "chilling" horror of child molestation comes through for you.

I appreciate your thoughts.
