You Know How Some People Are

You Know How Some People Are

And you meet their mother

Now you understand

O yes

And there are children behind the yard

Playing big thrusting sing-song challenges

To the summer sun beyond green bird chants

Transgressing fences and walls

O yes

And the winter is beyond the horizon

It will always be these games of freedom

O yes

And then your name comes echoing through

A sudden twilight

Wooden weapons and wheeled wonders

Spinning lonely left in darkening streets or grass

O yes

That feeling of loss even as you run home

O yes

When did we forget to go back

To live forever in transit

Always working under lifeless skies

O yes

Well you know how some people are

O Yes! I loved this DC....

wooden weapons and wheeled wonders

Spinning lonely left in darkening street or grass

The sounds tripped off my tongue, the rhymn gave it sense and musicality, "O Yes, you know how some people are"......

Impressive Dr C. I feel you've crossed a boundary yourself in your recent poems. I find them more expressive, less knotted by intellect, but still true to your thinking. The lexis more connected to ordinary folk. Stylistic echoes of a poem I listened to yesterday:

I like the style, the language choice and subject matter very much; I agree with Badge's comments re:lexis and connection. You have much to offer. Benjamin.

Remarkable, Juris. It's all good, but I especially loved:

And the winter is beyond the horizon,

and:

A sudden twilight

Wooden weapons and wheeled wonders

Spinning lonely left in darkening streets or grass,

and:

Always working under lifeless skies.

Well composed, repetition and all.
