I wondered if there is an allusion to Martin Luther King's speech "I have a Dream"? Here, you have juxtaposed images of the pastoral idyll with those of war and destruction. The bird and grassed over plougshare imagery sets the tone to one of desolation in this scene devoid of human life. The "American Idle" ironical reference augments it: perhaps the people are glued to their television sets.
