Fashion Victim

I stood before my wardrobe today
Absolutely naked
Looking for something to wear

And I could not find one thing
That I felt like putting myself into

It all suddenly seemed so ridiculous
This fragile humanoid
Standing
Before a wooden structure
Filled with sewn cloth
Designed to seduce and adorn and hide
And embellish the effort and culmination
Of billions of years of biological evolution

Such meaningless expressions of ego
And consciousness and status
Hanging in neat rows
Upon a rail
Vain constructs of a world
That has come to demand and respect
The flimsy material representation
Of each inhabitant of the planet

And I felt like running naked
Into a street somewhere
Screaming and mourning our loss of innocence

I yearned to just be in my skin
Primal and pure
Again
But
They would call me a lunatic
And lock me up
And scorn me
For obeying my natural, primal impulses

They
The self-same victims
Of their own wardrobes

To receive love, you have to give it...

A very natural piece Doug and a mutual feeling.

though I wouldn't want to be running to work in my birthday suit --

it gets kind of dangerous sometimes.

Pinhead

"Unbearable, isn't it? The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends.

There is a secret song at the center of the world, Joey, and its sound is like razors through flesh."

Joey

"I don't believe you."

Pinhead

"Oh come, you can hear its faint echo right now. I'm here to turn up the volume.

To press the stinking face of humanity into the dark blood of its own secret heart."

"There's a starving beast inside my chest
playing with me until he's bored
Then, slowly burying his tusks in my flesh
crawling his way out he rips open old wounds

When I reach for the knife placed on the bedside table
its blade reflects my determined face
to plant it in my chest
and carve a hole so deep it snaps my veins

Hollow me out, I want to feel empty"

"Sky turns to a deeper grey

the sun fades by the moon

hell's come from the distant hills

tortures dreams of the doomed

and they pray, yet they prey

and they pray, still they prey"

Number me among the ranks of the shy, Douglas. But I resonate with the innocence message. And cannot help but chuckle at your particular discovery of our overblown inhibitions and self absorption.
