In a Garden

Recommended Posts

Stretched out in a garden thinking of you
The long ridge of the mountain floating in blue
Languid thoughts falling gently out of my head
Like the cherry blossom petals
Landing softly on my chest
A chevron of birds slicing through the sky
Fragments of stories
As people pass by

Memories of golden evenings
Candles and champagne
Time spent together
That we’ll never share again

The arrow through my heart
Came in swift and sleek
The arrow through my heart
Entered fast and deep

And just for this moment
I’m left languishing in its pain
But soon I’ll stand and walk
And find my stride again

To receive love, you have to give it...

The pain of love and recuperative powers of the human spirit make a potent theme. I liked that dramatic line: "A chevron of birds slicing through the sky."

"But soon....." How apt, and how often. Great imagery.
