The Visitation

With the rains she returns,
Her hands extended,
Floating softly through the mists
And rising vapours.

Sweeping silently
Between trees,
She leaves behind her
Droplets of glimmering light
As the dusk stains the sky
Deep silver.

She has returned from the North
Bringing the winds and waters.
She has returned from the North
Bringing coolness and transformation.

I feel her cold caress,
The touch of her icy lips on mine.
I feel her fine embrace
As she whispers, “It is time.”

I like the refrained, "She has returned from the North." It brings a sense of inevitability and mythic significance to go along with the blended sense of wonder and participation by the narrator. I am also moved by the influence of this personified force, as someone who can either entice or insist as she wishes. Portrayed in lovely lines and pastels, she exerts intense feminine power over the mesmerized speaker.
