inspired by the song same title sung by katy perry. i love this former gospel singer's music. she is a excellent song writer.

Thinking of You

I think of you as I lie away awake in the night.

Thinking of you is the only thing I do.

It has been so long since I looked you in the eyes.

Looking into your eyes I know I want you.

Take me away no more mistakes I need you.

Second best is all I seem to ever know,

I taste your lips like a hurricane blows.

We met in the stairway to heaven.

I am glad we have met.

It was meant to be, like the seas that have boundaries.

I wish we could have spent one more night together.

No more mistakes, I want you to stay.

Looking into your eyes the last time we hugged and embraced.

How would I know winter would come early.

You would leave me in a whirlwind the next day.

Oh angels take me away for I would like you to stay.

But as fate would have it it was not meant to be.

How would I know my harsher words would drive you away.

How do I get better for I have been told there are many fish in the sea.

I feel out of touch and out of time.

I still feel second best is all I will know.

Thinking of you, thinking of you.

I was looking into your eyes.

You noticed my deep blue eyes.

But it wasn’t meant to be.

Soon I will meet someone new.

Take me away no more mistakes.

I will fall in love again.

You told me there are many fish in the sea.

Our passion is no more Joyce.

But in my dreams I will meet Elizabeth.

For my angels have told me this.

I have foreseen this.

When I am with her I am thinking of someone else.

I will meet pleasure in another life.

Thinking of you, thinking of you is all I ever do.

When will this nightmare ever end.

Once upon a time I loved Joyce but now I love Beth.

It is just the way it is we both have regrets,

how I bled and how you wept at the day we divorced.

I saw a apple in the tree I picked the ripest one.

It wasn’t you Joyce. It was Elizabeth

These are my favorite lines from the body of the poem, Victor:

How would I know winter would come early.

You would leave me in a whirlwind the next day.

But, in a more general sense, I like how the poem starts out with some statements that might be uttered by any lover and ends with a delve into the mystical and the personal:

Soon I will meet someone new ...

Our passion is no more Joyce.

But in my dreams I will meet Elizabeth.

For my angels have told me this.

I have foreseen this.

When I am with her I am thinking of someone else.

I will meet pleasure in another life ...

Once upon a time I loved Joyce but now I love Beth ...

It is just the way it is we both have regrets,

how I bled and how you wept at the day we divorced

The final couplet effectively blends bitterness with smugness:

I saw a apple in the tree I picked the ripest one.

It wasn’t you Joyce. It was Elizabeth

This opening made me go through the poem to find out more

"I think of you as I lie away awake in the night.

Thinking of you is the only thing I do.

It has been so long since I looked you in the eyes.

Looking into your eyes I know I want you.

Take me away no more mistakes I need you."

It hints already of a turmoil at the outset. And the poem ends with a contradiction, a different realization.

Good poem Vic.

I love this expression:

I taste your lips like a hurricane blows.

Bw I like how you are writing in the way Elizabeth VS Joyce :).

Good job Vic.

Glad to read all these series of poems.
