Can't you hear the Apocalypse Blues blowing down the street with cigarette butts and cherry blossoms, eddied in the street around the poor and the handmade, shoring along the new stories analog messages among digital streams Today is filled with curved spines and static people and signals bent in gravity's well phone calls and thoughts, barely remembered dropped long ago, now turning green- Shaggy men surround me on the bus, one speaks of building a mono-pole to power deep space missions, with 'he figures' 8 transistors in his rented room, built from yellow paperbacks and a miasma of mold, while his nodding companions, listen intently while discussing the inequities of the traditional methadone system but what catches my attention: his dream of portals opening to the land of velocipedes and reptiles, Lizard Bikes- He was back in the army, a third team charged with preventing the spread of a Dinosaur/ Human virus- The clearest memory: While waiting for their mission, he helped the cook make gravy for a breakfast of sausage and biscuits. They talk 2012, and what best to be-on when the tidal waves come, and how the news would report it. New Myths from the Priests of Negation, a binary blanket wrapping The Mystery- In my dreams real objects appear manifest presence and We move on noting and watching the rise and fall of it all. Thanks for the epigraph, too; it's nice to know who the author is, although I know several people who would claim that they said it first. The last verse seems to hint at the banality of it all. Nevertheless, whether one reads Nostradamus or sports a tinfoil hat, the quote does seem to ring true. When it comes to sci-fi, life does seem to imitate art! Callirhoe Posted May 22, 2009 Share Posted May 22, 2009 great poem DC, it us so true art intimates life or the other way round. i had to read it three times too take it all in. my fatorite star trek device is the comminucator, look at cell phones. i beleve it teleporatation because when i was young i believe ets teleported me 100 yards in a empty field after i was bit by a water mocassion. i could tell you if that story i said is real or not. something happened to me that is for sure, larsen Quote Larsen M.
