Lost

He confides
'She only has a few days left.'

Fighting my loss of breath
I ask, 'So, what is next?'

As he lays out what to expect,
I lost you in the details

of many new mornings-
mourning.

The day you leave
I will be somewhere else

looking for you in places
where we have been.

* A poem I wrote when my mom died. She died in the month of October in the late 90's.

Hi Tony,

Thanks that the tone of the speaker's lost is carried across and the reader was able to emphatize.
