Tinker Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Mother MaryI wonder when she saw His faceblood streaked from thorns in His crown, did she recall when He bloodied a kneeat five and came running to her?I wonder when the nails were driven indid she recall the young boy in training, learning the tools of his father's trade?I wonder while she watched Him hang, body broken, dying too youngdid she recall the babe she suckled, promising a mother's love and protection? ~~Judi Van Gorder Good Friday Meditation Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com

A. Baez Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I've wondered such things, too. How intense! 1 Quote

The reminders of the day, crucifix, Stations of the Cross, Golgotha are intense images. A day of suffering and pain. Even without taking part in Good Friday services, the images are still present and “intense”. ~~ Judi 1 Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
A. Baez Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I have heard that He was so exalted spiritually that He did not feel any physical pain on this occasion--he knew how to detach his senses from the flesh and He did so; nor did He feel any personal emotional pain, because He had transcended ego. His pain was only for the deluded humanity that had betrayed Him. I do believe this and it gives me great comfort. How many hundreds of others suffered the fate of crucifixion without any cushion between themselves and the visceral experience! 1 Quote
Tinker Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 I am a mother, the more relatable person here for me is Mary. She was not spared the pain of watching her son tortured and executed. ~~Judi Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
A. Baez Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Yes, there's no way one can skirt around that pain! Quote
