Warning to the Interlopers

These lands are not for you.
It would take two generations
before your feet could anchor
solidly on the ground.  You might
take a coastal city
closest to your origin
but would have to return often
to keep your minds aligned
with what you are.  Unwelcome meddlers
-you prefer to talk of your homeland-
So not native
                       to anything here.

 These lands keep well the northern sort
able to vary mass as fields vary
able to see clearly
when snowstorms rage, 
able to weave winters like play things
through their cooking, building, stories.
Taking for holiday their hot springs
crystal mountains; taming horses on rivers
that could be very sweeping
                      to unwelcome guests.
