dedalus
I want to hold you but I cannot hold you … not in front of a policeman not when the lights are turning red not when people are looking not when your eyes are shining not when a cough is coming not when war still rages not when the climate changes not when children are hungry perhaps when it rains we can smile into one another’s eyes and hide under my big umbrella but the people will bump into us from before and behind and say, move along there, move along ! David W. Parsley
Brendan, I really like this piece. It has a Kiplingesque irony to it. The desire to share love in the context of the world's accelerating difficulties, the anguish of a doomed generation - all effectively invoked. Thanks (I think), - Dave
Benjamin
Refreshing and relevant. Reminds me of that Lennon quote: "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." Enjoyed. G.
poetjohncompton
it's such a sad piece. i don't know why you can't hold the person. it just doesn't make sense. i mean not your poem, your emotions & feelings. the longing. but why not. it doesn't matter what or who - hold them! lol! thanks for the poem!
