Spanish Verse

The Cuarteto, Spanish for quartet, is an Argentine genre of music and also a stanzaic form which is simply a quatrain made up of rhymed hendecasyllabic lines.
The elements of the Cuarteto are:

  1. stanzaic, a poem made up of any number of quatrains.
  2. syllabic, hendecasyllabic (11 syllable) lines.
  3. rhymed, either abab or abba rhyme scheme.

    Argentina Way

Down south in romantic Argentina's sway,
the emerald carpet of tall pampas grass
beside reflective, smooth, sapphire water's glass,
is playground for macho gauchos on display.
