Folly Faucet

gnashes

operatic teeth

and makes us think

of mashed potatoes

and spam and nylons

and wine bottles

all along the tables

all along the floor

and the gramophone

sings Vera Lynn

drifting, lingering

among the lovely

crinkly smiles of wartime,

dark eyes under bruises

shiny skin grafts

missing limbs

the desperate gaiety

of troubled young women.

Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim

Good sounding stuff, papa. But why the double spacing. All it does is make it harder to read/grasp due to scrolling.

Excellent work, Brendan. As usual, your work transports me to another time and place. In this one, I enjoyed the captured moment(s), the thoughts that must have filled the minds of those immersed in the events of that fateful day. I like the short line construction and the layout.
