JoelJosol Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 You stopped flying over like a Raptor turning your head side-ways at 10 o'clock, letting loose a pout from the corner of your mouth, or a pair of cheeks rising. Perhaps there is nothing left to burn or level down, every inch of my territory you have secured, every token resistance neutralized, your intuition confirming my mental disarray. Let mechanised units roll in and bring over the ground forces, plant your flag over this terrain softened by aerial sorties. For in love as in war, I recognize when to raise a white flag. Tinker Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Hi Joel, This is a very fluid, very cleverly written poem. It has an element of crash and burn to it. It kept me on edge, as if I wasn't sure I wanted to see that white flag waved. ~~Tink Quote ~~ © ~~ Poems by Judi Van Gorder ~~ For permission to use this work you can write to Tinker1111@icloud.com
JoelJosol Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Thank you, Tink. It came to me just when I was turning in. Quote "Words are not things, and yet they are not non-things either." - Ann Lauterbach
Aleksandra Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Wonderful and wise. Let ground forces roll in and bring over mechanised units, plant your flag over this terrain softened by aerial sorties. For in warfare as in love, I am wise enough to recognize when to raise a white flag. Very interesting written and on some special way dear Joel. I like it a lot. JoelJosol Posted April 21, 2009 Author Posted April 21, 2009 Thanks, Alek. I revised the poem to replace it the generic with specifics, 'Raptor' for 'fighter plane', '10 o'clock' rather than 'one quarter of the way', for example.
