goldenlangur Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hi PMOers, As an experiment to encourage some prose writing in this forum, here are some prompt titles for the day. The idea is to write a piece using one or more of the titles. The titles are relevant for 24 hours. You can write as many responses to the titles as you like. Titles For 19.2.8 The first time Stone bridge All night Feverish slumber Etched Rim In denial Sentences: These too can be used in the prompt prose pieces: Crossing the threshold I... What do I know? Through the open window... Another visit ends... Blinking in the sunlight... The braille of your body... Musty boxes of memories .. Good Luck. When posting a response do give title and date: eg - 19.2.8 - Musty boxes of memories goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.

goldenlangur Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Thank you Aleksandra - prompts can be quite helpful when one's Muse is not very forthcoming! I have found it to be quite a help as it forces me to write within a set time. I'm so glad that you're thinking of having a go - perhaps we could extend these prompt titles to include poems too Good Luck goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
Aleksandra Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 hey Golden, I just did one story, a quick one . I don't know if that works well, because I am not used to write stories . Long time ago yes, bun not now. But ok it is a first time on English Thanks for idea again Aleksandra Quote The poet is a liar who always speaks the truth - Jean Cocteau History of Macedonia
tonyv Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I, too, like the ideas for the prose forum and the prompts, Golden -- thank you for implementing them. I will try one soon, also, but these past couple of days I have been kept busy by my stupid day job. (I think I will have time to write here within the next couple of days.) I noticed that it took you one hour to write the prose piece "Rim." Did I understand that correctly? It would take me considerably longer to write something even close to as good. goldenlangur Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Hi Tony, Many thanks for your generous support and encouragement for this idea. Not to worry too much about trying these out. I understand only too well how work can be! Yes, I took just under a hour to write the piece. That's the great thing about prompts - they force one to write from the top of one's head, as it were. No editing and rewriting as one would a normal poem or prose piece. These have helped me in times of writers' block. I hope you'll give these a try when you have some time, not worrying about the edits - just going with the flow, as it were goldenlangur Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying.
