dr_con
Baptism I captured a monster today to show to my lover- unseasonal rain and even thunder. I used a white piece of paper and clean glass jar; a segmented creature with four tiny legs and two black eyes. Returning, the sheet written with hieroglyphs, drops of water a sign- like the country bus ride and the talk of christening the eight month old baby filling me with dread. John the Baptist was beheaded for being a populist baptizing anyone who could come down to the river regardless of class, or nobility introducing them to their own divinity even desert prophets the lowest of the low the birthright of all, EVER PRESENT ETERNAL That moment washed in sin and reborn, beyond god and men simply here and I wonder would he regret capturing generations of monsters, or celebrate this unfolding of Evolution's careless and divine imperfections? badger11
Wrap a lot in a poem as usual Dr C., the parts capturing the attention, as if the form reflects your concluding lines. I captured a monster today to show to my lover- unseasonal rain and even thunder. I used a white piece of paper and clean glass jar; a segmented creature with four tiny legs and two black eyes. Returning, the sheet written with hieroglyphs, drops of water a sign- like the country bus ride and the talk of christening the eight month old baby filling me with dread. John the Baptist was beheaded Now I would have ended the poem there, but then I'm not you. badge
dr_con
Thanks Badge, Larsen ;-) I see what you mean Badge, a completely different poetic reflection, maybe on re-write! Thanks Guys! DC Quote thegateless.org
tonyv
You capture the miracle (or mystery) of creation (or existence), Dr. Con. I do like the rest of the poem after beheaded, how you contrast the humble "minding his own business" activities of the political prisoner with the infringing political forces raging against him. I love the first verse, especially your use of monster and how you include the personal.
