dr_con
Harvest Time At this time glass spiders fall from the ceiling like rain Forgotten abundance surrounds us downtown they believe The Hunter is gone- He just bought a new suit and does not offer Tobacco for four legged meat or the spirit of Trees The Farmer feeds ancient bones to the Hunger not knowing how Sacrifice changed became more voracious hid blood behind Products where no-body looks all shiny surface the trick of hiding behind mirrors a comfort to children when Old Spirits come walking to reap what we sowed. goldenlangur
Hi DC, I get a sense of how man has become alienated from the nurturing earthl and sustenance is solely linked to brands and how it is packaged. Harvest, which in earlier times would be a marking of the passing of time and the cycle of the seasons/life, is now just a time of abundance/choice. One gets a sense that the transcendental aspiriations and ideals are lost in this alienation: not knowing how Sacrifice changed became more voracious hid blood behind Products where no-body looks all shiny surface the trick of hiding behind mirrors a comfort to children when Old Spirits come walking to reap what we sowed. I love the image of glass spider falling from the ceiling like rain. Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying. Aleksandra
Loved the poem. Beautiful title and wonderful idea what works so good in your poetry piece - the using of a capital letter in Sacrifice - wonderful. Well done DC. tonyv
An unsettling delve into society's complicity when it closes its eyes and benefits, as it fails to act to stop, or even curb, injustice. The poem is compact, and it hits the reader hard. dr_con
Thanks All! To me it reflects the nature of our 'time' with the richness of possibility, yet the shallowness of what is on offer. Much Gratitude for the read! DC Quote thegateless.org
