With that recorded business-like voice,

A mix of dominatrix and school mistress.

After the given precise number of strokes,

Speaking as one fully satisfied customer

It's a matter of relatively few seconds,

And I am quite content with the service.

Thanks Tony and Aleks for commenting earlier. Just thought I'd put on record the little trick in this one.

This was perhaps a bit unfair of me to post a poem purporting to be about one thing but isn't at all what it appears to be about with only that cryptic clue in brackets that this text may not be as seems. I forgot that whereas this is discernible to a British reader of course who are familiar with the language of our "speaking clock" service provided by the UK British Telecom, it wouldn't be clear to any non-Brits. What a brilliant write! Went googling to discover that TIM is 70 years old and had only one male voice! A slice of history rendered vividly here.
