do not be disheartened

for the sun shall rise in the morning

across the fields

and across the hills

and shimmering oceans

and you shall be high upon a cliff walking

through the heat

with your hands brushing against golden grasses

which sway in the midday breeze

and you will raise your face

toward the sky

and feel that heat

the heat of life

caressing you and warming your blood

and you will smell the baking earth

and taste the salt that laces the air

as waves crash below in the cove

the kisses of the tides

upon the shores of your land

the sacred space

where liquid meets form

and you shall feel your spirit soaring in to the blue

as the birds twirl in the space above you

To receive love, you have to give it...

A lovely message of hope, Douglas. In my read, the poem has a cosmopolitan flair, especially in the first verse:

do not be disheartened

for the sun shall rise in the morning

across the fields

and across the hills

and shimmering oceans

The way you say oceans in the plural simply says "world" to me. I love that part! The last lines --

and you shall feel your spirit soaring in to the blue

as the birds twirl in the space above you

-- transport me. They make me feel like a like a radio wave, though a lot less limited.

Are you home now? I mean, in Cape Town? I watched a couple of youtube clips about it quickly, and I hope to enjoy some more time there, as a "virtual tourist," soon.

This is like a Monet in words, rich in color and texture, vivid, complicated yet so very simple.

I love:

"the sacred space

where liquid meets form"

Wonderful,

This is one of your best works my sweet friend.

I can't stop reading this possitive and wonderful emotional poem.

Look this wonderful expression:

for the sun shall rise in the morning

across the fields

and across the hills

and many more...

All poem is perfect and as Tony wrote a lovely message of hope

I loved this one Doug.

Nice to see you around.
