dedalus
Brings to mind the stranger in a strange land (sydney, berlin, etc.) limbo that occurs to all travellers landing in new surroundings for the first time before making those initial direct human contacts ... after which things have a way of taking off, usually for better, sometimes for worse! dedalus Quote Drown your sorrows in drink, by all means, but the real sorrows can swim
tonyv
Profound, universal, beautiful -- and let's not forget cosmopolitan! But the poem already says that, doesn't it? I like your strategy for finding inner peace through inner solitude in urban settings. It seems to have worked! goldenlangur
Hi douglas, Good to see you again and read your work. Congratulations on your publications! This poem has a lovely mellowness about it - a coming to terms with the solitude and the creative impulse of one's inner world: i learnt that it was alright to be alone with myself and my head of thoughts A meditation on the self opening up portals to other dimensions and possibilities. I love the being-in-the -moment sense you suggest here. Thank you. Quote goldenlangur Even a single enemy is too many and a thousand friends too few - Bhutanese saying. Aleksandra
Douglas dear, I am coming late with my comments here. This poem reflects your state of mind while you was traveling and experiencing new life. Nothing is worse than being alone, but sometimes helps. I like how you expressed your poem, in some positive way too. I enjoyed reading this one. It gives special feeling.
