douglas
sit quietly and watch the streets revealing themselves to you all of the secrets of the place you find yourself in are coming to life detect the spirit of those around you who have helped to shape and create it wherever you are the streets are streets and the sky is sky there is good and bad and beauty and grit and between those rests life and energy the personality of places just take a look it is right there in front of you Quote To receive love, you have to give it... Aleksandra
all of the secrets of the placeyou find yourself in are coming to life This is simply beautiful poem Doug. How nice to read you again. Wonderful expression and brilliant observation. Universal - as the narrator speaks to each of us - definitely can be with personal clear target but the poem speak very openly. wherever you arethe streets are streets and the sky is sky there is good and bad and beauty and grit ... and now that is very true and simple to know but seems we never think about that or forget to see the life like it is. Dear Douglas, the ending of the poem is wonderful: just take a lookit is right there in front of you Thank you for sharing and nice to see you around. dr_con
Douglas, A well crafted piece which masterfully conveys a simple but difficult lesson. Have you been doing a great deal of Zazen? Genpo Roshi has said that one of the lessons of a sitting practice is that soon you realize you are always sitting- no matter what you are doing;-) Lovely piece, many thanks! As to my book (and yours!) you can buy it from the internet and we have a new promotions forum: http://www.poetrymagnumopus.com/index.php?showforum=71 Please promote you book so I can buy it And follow the link under mine to buy a copy- If it doesn't work PM me and we'll see what we can do;-) DC&J Quote thegateless.org
tonyv
I like how you animate places, Douglas, with this "poem for the poet." It's inspirational in the sense that it promises at least a poem in every place. Taken outside of that, it makes me think of my recent "Easy Living" poem. Both seem to carry a similar sentiment.
