Restlessness

this restlessness

i must confess

is taking me to a higher space

your words your touch

your beautiful face

and the things you say

that make me feel out of place

and this earth

is too full of images and thoughts

all of those things that fill our minds

and distort

i'm trying so hard to make sense of this

New World Order

trying to make sense of what i ought to

say and feel and display

it seems that i never get that image right

because thoughts move so fast and take flight

within our minds

our secret brains

our desires and expressions

and contemporary refrains

this restlessness

oh

this restlessness

can't you feel it now

taking full control of you

a restlessness to know and to love

to be understood

to experience sensuality and adoration

to feel that which is true

and the candle will burn

releasing its flame

and the heart will keep beating

with a pulse

that is just the same

transforming what is dimensional

and solid

and real

into something magical, otherworldly

surreal.

Lovely sonics in this poem, Douglas. Especially noteworthy are all the "s" and "c" sounds throughout.

Keep writing from the heart. You won't go wrong.

Douglas,

for a rhyming rant- the lyrical sing song voice really work- a lovely reflection on love and being among the artifacts and objects of modernity...

Nice!

Well, I won't be modest and I will tell that I felt a little bit from the voice of Shakespeare, while I was reading this poem, especially this part here:

this restlessness

oh

this restlessness

can't you feel it now

taking full control of me

it's a restlessness to know and to love

to be understood

I loved your poem, Doug. I enjoyed a lot.

thanks dr and alex - i've made a few tweaks and created stanzas which i think improve this poem a lot - busy getting my second book together and gathering some work from PMO
